More on being prepared...

As an addendum to yesterday's post:

I failed to mention that, if you can, attend the rehearsal of the ceremony. This is the best way to get a great preview of the order of events, the lighting, and the best places to shoot from.

In addition, being prepared includes having a backup plan (in case of bad weather or something is changed at the last minute). Moreover, get an itinerary of the day so you'll always know what's happening next and not get caught off guard.

Furthermore, make certain your equipment is ready and in working order. Check your camera's settings too (WB, ISO, etc.) to be sure they are correct for the days shoot.

Charge all (flash/camera) batteries and bring spares, keep extra memory cards handy, and beg, borrow, or rent a backup camera (even if its a point and shoot) just in case. If you plan on earning a living from shooting weddings you need to have redundant systems in place. The cost of restaging a wedding (at your expense) due to equipment failure outweighs the price of backup equipment.

It also wouldn't hurt to carry safety pins, a small sewing kit, and anything else you can think of that might come in handy during any last minute emergencies.
